How to Run a Fundraiser Quiz Night

Everything you need to run a successful quiz night fundraiser for a school, club or charity.

Quiz nights are one of the most popular fundraisers in NZ — they're simple to run, sociable and can raise a good amount.

Set your goal

Decide how much you want to raise and what it's for. Share the goal on tickets and at the event — people give more when they know the purpose.

Format

Tables of 6–8 people

6–8 rounds of 10 questions

Mix general knowledge, local NZ trivia, music and picture rounds

Silent auction

"Buy a clue" or "joker" cards

Heads or tails game

Venue and licensing

If alcohol is being sold, the venue must hold a licence or you'll need a special licence from your council. Many clubs and school halls have this sorted.

Volunteers

You'll need a quiz master, scorers, raffle sellers and a door team. A good MC keeps the night moving.

After the event

Thank donors and sponsors publicly and share the total raised.
